Chagall lived the Tsars' regime, the Russian revolution, two world wars, nazi persecution, and had to go to France into exile, then the USA. After WWII he continues his career in France, at the Côte d'Azur, close to his rivals Picasso or Matisse. Chagall's works of art are in the world's main Museums, but among his most famous masterpieces are his mural paintings (Metropolitan Opera House, Opéra Garnier Paris) or his stained glasses (United Nations, Reims Cathedral,,,,)
Chagall has been a free painter, who has flied over difficulties and influences, but whose poetry and colour have prevailed over 20th century dramas.
